fiberdays 24 am 27. & 28 February: DIW head Marcel Fratzscher opens congress trade fair on fibre optic expansion and digitization

Bonn/Wiesbaden, 19.02.2024 The two-day program of fiberdays 24 offers lectures, panel discussions, seminars and workshops on all the top topics of the fiber optic industry. Representatives from all well-known companies in the German telecommunications industry will talk to politicians and administrators about current strategic challenges, investments, sustainability, open access and much more.

Prof. Marcel Fratzscher, President of the German Institute for Economic Research and Professor of Macroeconomics at Humboldt University in Berlin, will deliver the opening keynote speech at fiberdays 24 on 27 February. Oliver Gürtler (Microsoft), Norbert Westfal (EWE TEL/President of BREKO) and BREKO Managing Director Dr. Stephan Albers will provide further impetus for the two days of the congress.

Another program highlight is the strategy panel following a keynote speech by Daniela Kluckert, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport. The heads of leading fiber optic providers will take part in the panel discussion: Stephan Drescher (envia TEL), Andreas Pfisterer (Deutsche Glasfaser), Jens Prautzsch (Unsere Grüne Glasfaser) and Soeren Wendler (Deutsche GigaNetz).

The panel discussion on the increasingly important topic of open access will also feature a number of prominent speakers, including Fabian Bühring (Stadtwerke Neumünster), Thilo Höllen (Deutsche Telekom), Ulrich Hoffmann (Plusnet), Christopher Rautenberg (metrofibre), Stefan Rueter (OXG Glasfaser) and Cengiz Temur (VX Fiber).

For the first time, the interface topics of energy transition, fiber optics and sustainability will be prominently discussed at fiberdays. Also taking part: Thomas Langer (Kawikani), Judith Luig (Stadtwerke Münster), Dalibor Dreznjak (Stadtwerke Wolfsburg/WOBCOM), Dr. Vesta von Bossel (PwC), Fatbardh Kqiku (BDEW) and Tim Brauckmüller (aconium).

There will also be prominent panel discussions on the topics of fiber optic investments, technology, innovations and services and the resilience of digital infrastructures.

In addition to the who’s who of the industry, high-ranking representatives from politics and administration at EU, federal, state and municipal level will also enrich the fiberdays program, including Dr. Peter Stuckmann (EU Commission), Sven Butler (Federal Gigabit Office), State Secretary Stefan Sauer (Hesse Ministry of Digital Affairs), Mayor Dennis Weilmann (Wolfsburg), Dr. Cordelius Ilgmann (Thuringia Ministry of Economics), Alexander Pohl (Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Labour) and Klaus Albrecht (Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics).

The TV congress media hall, where the television of the future will be discussed at fiberdays, brings together representatives from all well-known TV platforms, streaming platforms and broadcasters from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These include ZDF, Deutsche Telekom, DAZN, waipu.tv, Zattoo, Sport 1, Samsung Electronics, Seven.One Sports, Liberty Global, swisscom, Ford, Cariad, 3SS and Red Bull.
