Bonn, 16.10.2023 The regional committee of the German Broadband Communications Association (BREKO) has a new chairwoman: Sabrina-Maria Geißler, Managing Director of wittenberg-net, is taking over the leadership of the umbrella committee of the ten BREKO regional groups from long-time chairwoman Ulla Meixner, Head of Telecommunications at Stadtwerke Flensburg.

The BREKO Regional Committee has elected Sabrina-Maria Geißler, Managing Director of wittenberg-net, as its new Chairwoman. “In the context of my previous functions in the association, I consider the regional level to be extremely valuable for forming political opinions. Fiber optic expansion takes place regionally. The committee of all regional groups is therefore an important instrument for discussing specific regional features and exchanging ideas across the board. I am therefore grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to continuing to drive forward the development of state policy work within the framework of the BREKO state concept as Chairwoman of the Regional Committee,” commented the head of the network operator from Saxony-Anhalt on her election.

Her predecessor Ulla Meixner, who is responsible for fiber optic expansion at Stadtwerke Flensburg, emphasized the important mediating role of the regional committee chairwoman in light of her many years of experience: “I am very pleased and warmly congratulate Ms. Geißler on her election as chairwoman of the BREKO regional committee. Ms. Geißler thus assumes a central interface for the coordination of the regional groups. This will promote the transfer of know-how between the individual federal states, but of course also the flow of information from the Federal Executive Board to the federal states. This worked extremely well during the development phase that I was able to accompany in this position and made BREKO’s work very transparent and effective.”

Jan Simons, Head of State and Local Policy at BREKO, was also delighted with Geißler’s election: “With Sabrina-Maria Geißler, an up-and-coming and committed personality is taking the helm of the BREKO Regional Committee. Her expertise and passion for the telecommunications industry will help us make decisive progress towards a networked future.”

The Regional Committee is made up of the spokespersons of the ten BREKO regional groups and acts as a coordination and exchange committee between the regions, as well as a link to the association’s Board of Directors. The Chairwoman of the Regional Committee regularly attends BREKO Board meetings in order to ensure a constant flow of information between the regional and national levels of BREKO.
