Bonn/Wiesbaden, 18.01.2024 Trade fair kick-off for the telecommunications industry: fiberdays 24 will take place at the RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC) Wiesbaden on 27 and 28 February. Tickets for Germany’s leading trade fair for fibre optic expansion and digitalization are now available.
More than 200 exhibitors from the fiber optic and digital industry will be presenting their latest innovations and services relating to future-proof and energy-efficient fiber optics in the two fully booked exhibition halls. On six panels, executives from well-known telecommunications companies will discuss the most important current topics for successful fiber optic expansion with decision-makers from federal and state politics.
In addition to panels on open access, investments, strategic topics, technical innovations and European regulation, there will also be a panel discussion on the interface topic of the energy transition and fiber optics for the first time. Prof. Dr. Jens Böcker and Kerstin Stromberg-Mallmann will lead through the program.
Focus on municipal fiber optic issues
Due to the positive feedback, the new municipal marketplace introduced in 2023 at the stand of gold sponsor teranet will once again offer information and exchange, especially for municipal decision-makers. Presentation topics will range from DIN for modern installation methods, gigabit funding and dual expansion to expansion projects with the housing industry and synergies in the context of the energy transition.
The Gigabit Campus of the federal states and the federal government with the digital representatives of the federal states and the Infomobile of the Federal Gigabit Office will once again offer a unique platform. For the first time, a mayors’ forum will be offered there for the exchange of experiences between municipalities at the highest level. Another novelty at fiberdays 24 will be the awarding of the first municipalities as “Real Fiber Optic Municipalities”: As part of the “Fiber for Future” initiative of the German Broadband Communications Association (BREKO), digital policy lighthouses that already have a nationwide fiber optic network will be honored.
Exclusive kick-off for municipal utilities the day before
On February 26, 2024, an exclusive municipal utility meeting will take place for the first time as a kick-off event for municipal utilities and municipal supply companies. The exchange will focus on climate change and the energy transition. The guest speaker will be Frank Schätzing, author of the scientifically sound book “What if we just save the world? – Handeln in der Klimakrise” will enrich the program and the discussion with his impulses. BREKO and the Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) will jointly lead through the diverse stage programme on the topics of sustainability, fibre optic infrastructure, digitalization and financing.
New young talent network
In order to strengthen young employees in the telecommunications industry and to make the sector more diverse and attractive for the young professionals of tomorrow, BREKO and carrierwerke will jointly establish the industry network “nextgen” as part of fiberdays 24. Following a thematically appropriate panel discussion, there will also be a first network meeting in Wiesbaden.
TV congress on the fiberdays
The TV congress media hall is already entering its third round this year. Broadcasters, network operators and media professionals will meet there to discuss topics relating to the television of the future. Following last year’s great success, there will once again be a varied program of presentations and discussions on all current TV topics, including FAST Channels and AVOD, live sports, in-car entertainment, TV marketing and, of course, the key date in the television market – the end of the ancillary cost privilege on 01.07.2024.
