More choice of fiber optic provider: Deutsche Glasfaser and EWE plan fiber-optic cooperation in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia
EWE and Deutsche Glasfaser have signed a letter of intent for a network cooperation to expand the Internet tariff offering in large parts of Lower Saxony and the neighboring northern Münsterland region in North Rhine-Westphalia. Both companies have agreed to start negotiations in the first quarter of 2025. The aim of both sides is to conclude a contract to also offer EWE fiber optic products on Deutsche Glasfaser’s infrastructure. This will add another provider for customers on the Deutsche Glasfaser network. It also avoids the nonsensical duplication of fiber optic networks.
Westconnect & GELSEN-NET enter into cooperation
GELSEN-NET, the regional fiber optic company and IT system house, and Westconnect, one of the leading German fiber optic companies, have signed a cooperation agreement. The partnership is aimed at long-term cooperation in order to provide customers in the regions of Bottrop, Castrop-Rauxel, Gelsenkirchen, Gladbeck, Herten, Marl and Recklinghausen with high-quality Internet and telephony products of up to 1 Gbit/s on a future-proof fiber optic network.
Deutsche GigaNetz and Glasfaser Nordwest seal long-term open access partnership
Open access to the fiber optic network plays a decisive role in the successful and rapid expansion of fiber optics in Germany.Open access not only creates more options when choosing providers and products, but also promotes the efficient use of the infrastructure. In line with this approach, the infrastructure provider Glasfaser Nordwest and the telecommunications company Deutsche GigaNetz agreed last year to join forces and improve the digital supply of many citizens.
Open Access milestone: OXG and vitroconnect expand strategic partnership with additional wholesale cooperation
- OXG is now providing vitroconnect with Layer 2 bitstream access.
- This means that network operators cooperating with vitroconnect can also market and order FTTH connections via the high-performance OXG fiber optic network.
- The long-term wholesale partnership will increase provider diversity for up to 7 million households in Germany.
1&1 Versatel and GELSEN-NET conclude open access cooperation: Fiber optics for companies in the Gelsenkirchen region
The telecommunications provider 1&1 Versatel, which specializes in corporate customers, is cooperating with GELSEN-NET, the regional fibre-optic company and IT system house based in Gelsenkirchen. The agreement includes access to GELSEN-NET’s entire fiber optic network in seven cities in the Ruhr region.
Open Access: Westconnect and 1&1 Versatel sign cooperation agreement for FTTH bitstream
1&1 Versatel, the Düsseldorf-based telecommunications provider specializing in corporate customers, and Westconnect, the leading German fiber optic company based in Essen, have signed a cooperation agreement: The partnership is aimed at long-term cooperation to provide business customers and public institutions with Internet products and services from 1&1 Versatel on Westconnect’s fiber optic network in the future.
Colt appoints Stephan Wanke as new Managing Director for Germany
Colt is the world’s largest digital infrastructure provider focused purely on business customers. The company operates its own high-performance fiber optic network (400 Gbit/s) that directly connects more than 32,000 buildings, over 1,100 data centers and over 250 cloud points of presence in major business centers around the world. In addition, Colt operates ten submarine cable systems and recently launched a managed service that combines Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity with 4G/5G mobile connectivity. With its Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platform, Colt is driving the flexibilization and automation of network solutions, making it even easier for companies to scale their infrastructure according to demand. Together with its technology partners, Colt repeatedly conducts successful tests, such as the first terabit wavelength transmission across the Atlantic or quantum encryption.
TelemaxX on course for growth with new CEO – Cloud made in Germany
With effect from 01.04.25, Mr. Jan Lange will become the new Managing Director and CEO of TelemaxX GmbH in Karlsruhe. Mr. Lange holds a degree in economics from the Ruhr University Bochum and is a Harvard Business School alumnus in the field of general management. He is a proven expert and has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications, data center services and cloud infrastructure markets relevant to TelemaxX.
