BREKO awards network operator from Ratingen for “Real fiber optics”
Bonn/Ratingen, 09.07.24 – The German Broadband Communications Association (BREKO) has awarded network operator KomMITT its “Real Fiber” quality seal. To date, the subsidiary of Stadtwerke Ratingen has expanded 93 percent of the Ratingen city area with future-proof fiber optics to buildings and homes.
As part of its “Fiber for Future” initiative, BREKO awards prizes to telecommunications companies that act as competent and reliable local fiber optic partners. An important criterion here is that the award-winning companies give priority to “real” fiber optic connections – i.e. right into buildings (FTTB) and homes (FTTH) – over other technologies.
KomMITT not only meets this criterion, but even exceeds it by dedicating itself exclusively to the expansion of real fiber optics.
BREKO Managing Director Dr. Stephan Albers: “If it says fiber optics on the label, it must also contain fiber optics. Only with real fiber optic connections, i.e. fiber optic directly to the buildings and homes, can the advantages of fiber optic technology be fully exploited: high data transmission rates, a stable Internet connection and low energy consumption. With the expansion of real fiber optics, KomMITT is helping to ensure that the full fiber optic quality reaches people and that they are prepared for the digital future.”
KomMITT Managing Director Stefan Hermes: “Only through our consistent and almost nationwide expansion with real fiber to the home have we been able to build a solid and future-proof infrastructure in Ratingen for citizens and businesses, on which we can continue to offer the most innovative services in the future.”
