With regard to the telecommunications industry, BREKO shares neither the diagnosis nor the recommendations for action in the Draghi Report. As with the "Letta Report" published in April and the EU Commission's White Paper on the future of the telecommunications industry, Mario Draghi does not provide a valid argument as to why a more consolidated telecommunications market with a few large players would lead to more investment.
The Bundesverband Breitbandkommunikation e.V. (BREKO) welcomes its 500th member in the year of the association's 25th anniversary and thus strengthens its political weight as the central voice of the fiber optic industry at federal, state, European and municipal level. With 262 network operators and 238 product providers and service companies, BREKO offers companies of all sizes a reliable and competent network to jointly promote the nationwide expansion of fiber optics.
The German Broadband Communications Association (BREKO) today awarded DATEL Dessau, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Dessau, the "Real Fiber" quality seal. The Mayor of Dessau-Roßlau, Dr. Robert Reck, was also honored as a "digital politician".
The ruling is a resounding slap in the face for the Federal Network Agency! Apparently, the management of this important regulatory authority at the time was biased, prejudiced against pro-competitive measures and anything but independent of political influence. The decision to impose only an ineffective negotiation requirement on mobile network operators in 2019 instead of a service provider obligation was therefore not made for objective reasons, but to protect Telekom, Vodafone and Telefónica from unwelcome competition.
The German Broadband Association (BREKO) has awarded Dr. Achim Brötel from Mosbach the title of "Digital Politician" for his services to the expansion of fibre optics.
The German Broadband Association (BREKO) has awarded Klaus Pesch and Gerold Fahr the title of "Digital Politician". The mayor of Ratingen and the council member and chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Ratingen were honored for their commitment to the expansion of fiber optics.
Deutsche Telekom's dual expansion is apparently reaching a new dimension. While many large cities in Germany and Bavaria are still waiting for the initial connection, the market-dominating company prefers to expand in areas where two thirds of the population already have access to the fiber optic network. With such advances, the nationwide fiber optic expansion is being slowed down against its better judgment. Telekom is tying up construction resources that are more urgently needed elsewhere, damaging the environment more than necessary and burdening Munich residents, whose sidewalks and streets are being torn up twice.
On August 28, 2014, Deutsche Telekom began marketing DSL connections with vectoring technology. On the tenth anniversary of this bridging technology, the German Broadband Association (BREKO) draws a sobering conclusion and calls for a clear concept for the transition from copper to fiber optic networks.
The Bundesverband Breitbandkommunikation e.V. (BREKO) awarded Stadtwerke München its "Real Fiber" quality seal today. In addition, the City of Munich's broadband officer, Eva Puckner, was honored for her services to the expansion of fiber optics.
The German Broadband Association (BREKO) today awarded Stadtwerke Saarlouis its "Real Fiber" quality seal. Germany's leading fiber optic association thus recognizes the consistent expansion of fiber optic connections to buildings and homes.
