BREKO excludes Gazprom subsidiary Wingas

Against the backdrop of the increasingly escalating Ukraine crisis caused by the Russian war of aggression, the German Broadband Association (BREKO) is excluding its member company Wingas from the association with immediate effect.

Wingas GmbH, based in Kassel, is wholly owned by the Russian public limited company Gazprom, in which the Russian state holds a majority stake. In light of this ownership structure, BREKO is today excluding the member company from the association with immediate effect.

BREKO thus clearly opposes the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the associated breach of international law. Due to the proximity of the parent company to the Russian government, the exclusion is an unavoidable step from BREKO’s point of view. At the same time, BREKO regrets the resulting disadvantages for the employees of the company and its subsidiaries in all countries that do not support the inhumane actions of the Russian government.
