BREKO press statement on the “Economic defense shield against the consequences of the Russian war of aggression”
Berlin, 29.09.2022 – Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz today presented the “Economic defense shield against the consequences of the Russian war of aggression” together with Vice Chancellors Robert Habeck and Christian Lindner. The plans include the introduction of an electricity price brake for consumers and all companies. The German Broadband Association (BREKO) has issued the following statement on this:
“In order to maintain the existing momentum and speed of fiber optic expansion in the future, powerful measures by the federal government are necessary to relieve the burden on companies. As a result of the Russian war of aggression, almost all areas of fiber optic expansion are affected by price increases. Added to this are the exorbitant increases in energy costs. The financial defense shield announced by the German government today is an important step towards providing financial relief for consumers and companies in Germany. The defensive shield must be put in place quickly and the measures must be implemented quickly and effectively.”
