Bonn, June 13, 2023 We bid farewell to Prof. Dr. Torsten J. Gerpott, an outstanding personality in the German telecommunications industry.

Prof. Gerpott was a luminary in his field and knew better than almost anyone how to explain the complex interrelationships of the industry in an understandable way. He fought for strong competition and always advocated clear rules that offered all market participants equal opportunities.

He was known for being argumentative, but always focused on the matter at hand. His points of view were well-founded and often challenging, but always with the aim of advancing the telecommunications industry. As the founder of the Center for Telecommunications and Media Economics (ZfTM), of which BREKO is also a member, he created a platform where the most important issues in the industry are discussed and researched.

Competition in telecommunications would not be where it is today without Prof. Gerpott. He has fought tirelessly for an open and fair competitive landscape, laying the foundations for innovation and progress. His work has made a significant contribution to the continuous development of the telecommunications industry.

We will greatly miss Prof. Dr. Torsten J. Gerpott both as a person and as a scientist. His commitment, his expertise and his dedication to telecommunications were exceptional.
