fiberdays 24: Leading trade fair for fiber optics and digitalization once again sets new trends
Wiesbaden, 28.02.2024 With the Gigabit Campus and Municipal Marketplace, the central meeting of the German fiber optic industry in 2024 has also developed into an important meeting point for municipal politics and administration. At the same time, the media hall integrated into fiberdays brought together the who’s who of the media industry.
After four successful trade fairs at the RheinMain CongressCenter in Wiesbaden, fiberdays celebrated a brilliant finale on 27 and 28 February with a new record of more than 7,600 trade visitors. The next edition will take place on April 2 and 3, 2025 with significantly more space at Messe Frankfurt. Stand space can be booked now, with an early booking discount until the end of April 2024: https://www.fiberdays.de/messestandbuchung-fiberdays-25
In two exhibition halls, 220 national and international exhibitors presented their latest products, innovations and services relating to future-proof and energy-efficient fiber optics and were pleased to welcome numerous customers and do good business at the trade fair. Meanwhile, telecommunications industry executives engaged in controversial and constructive discussions with politicians, administrators and scientists about current challenges and solutions for a rapid nationwide fiber optic expansion.
In her keynote speech, Daniela Kluckert, Member of the German Bundestag and State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Affairs, praised the strong momentum in fiber optic expansion and highlighted the role of the federal government: “By bundling our expertise in our gigabit strategy, the gigabit land register and the federal gigabit office, we have created a strong interface to all stakeholders in order to ambitiously drive forward the nationwide expansion together.”
Focus on exchange between industry, federal states and municipalities
The congress program also focused on regional and municipal topics to a greater extent than in previous years. At the “Gigabit Campus of the federal states and the federal government”, local authorities exchanged ideas with the digital representatives from eleven federal states and the federal Gigabit Office. Sven Butler, Head of the Gigabit Office: “The Gigabit Campus was once again a success: the two days of the trade fair were characterized by an intensive exchange on broadband and mobile expansion with representatives of the federal states. We look forward to offering this opportunity again next year.”
The municipal marketplace, which was newly introduced in 2023, was another magnet for those responsible in municipalities and districts. Thorsten Fellmann, Managing Director of GVG Glasfaser, gold sponsor of fiberdays24 with the teranet brand: “fiberdays has been Germany’s leading trade fair for future-proof fiber optics for years. Since its foundation in 2014, GVG Glasfaser has focused exclusively on pure fiber optics (FTTH) and, with its nationwide teranet brand, has therefore once again committed itself with full conviction as a gold sponsor this year. We are proud to have launched the Municipal Marketplace together with BREKO, which has now established itself as one of the most important points of contact for municipal representatives on fiberdays.”
TV congress media hall an integral part of the television industry calendar
Part of the success of fiberdays was once again the TV congress media hall. “media hall 2024 was a complete success. For the third year, we managed to bring the entire TV industry to Wiesbaden,” summarized media hall organizer Christian Heinkele. “The presentations and panels discussed the really relevant topics in the industry: The future of television, pay-as-you-go, FAST Channels and AVOD as well as in-car video entertainment.”
