Consumer protection

Consumer protection requirements in Germany are very high in the telecommunications sector. BREKO supports its members in implementing and complying with these requirements. At the same time, BREKO advocates for making the regulations practical for telecommunications companies and avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.

FAQ

BREKO keeps its member companies continuously informed about current developments in consumer protection. In addition to mailings, the association also offers webinars, where updates on consumer protection are shared and members’ questions are answered.

Through the BREKO Servicegesellschaft, member companies also receive tailored solutions at special conditions, such as sample terms and conditions (AGB), order forms, and service descriptions – all legally reviewed, practical, and applicable to both consumer and business customer contracts.

Misunderstood consumer protection must not become an obstacle to fiber optic expansion. For this reason, BREKO is advocating, among other things, for no restrictions on door-to-door sales – the most important distribution channel for fiber optic contracts. Consumer protection must provide real benefits to consumers. Therefore, the association is actively working both in Berlin and Brussels to ensure that unnecessary regulations and obligations, which create bureaucratic burdens but provide no benefit to consumers, are abolished.
