    Berlin, March 23, 2022 Today, the Federal Network Agency presented the draft statutory order on the minimum requirements for the right to be provided with telecommunications services (RaVT). In addition to the previously announced parameters for the requirements for internet access services (download and upload bandwidth, latency), it contains an exception rule that allows the Federal Network Agency to set lower bandwidths and higher latencies in exceptional cases if this is justified in particular by the expected costs of expansion and geographical factors.

Over the next few years, sufficient private sector funds will be available for the expansion of fiber optics to fully utilize the existing planning and construction capacities. That is why the gigabit strategy must first and foremost be an implementation strategy that initiates concrete steps to accelerate the expansion," says Norbert Westfal, President of the German Broadband Association (BREKO), with a view to the upcoming development of the key points of the gigabit strategy by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) under the leadership of Minister Volker Wissing.

    Bonn, 23.12.2021 Yesterday, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) published an initial proposal for the minimum requirements for internet access as part of the right to fast internet. The German Broadband Association (BREKO) considers the BNetzA's proposal to set the minimum requirements for internet access at 10 Mbit/s for downloads, 1.3 Mbit/s for uploads and a maximum latency of 150 milliseconds to be appropriate.
