Bonn/Gießen, 05.05.2022 - Digitalization can only contribute to achieving climate targets on the basis of an energy-saving digital infrastructure. Due to their low power consumption compared to other infrastructures, real fiber optic networks offer the possibility of energy-efficient data transmission. This is confirmed by a recent report.
Bonn, 04.05.2022 The German Broadband Association (BREKO) comments on the Ordinance on the Minimum Requirements for the Right to Supply with Telecommunications Services (TK-Mindestversorgungsverordnung, TKMV) adopted today by the Federal Cabinet: "BREKO is critical of the ordinance adopted today. The German government could and should have opened the doors to guaranteeing basic Internet coverage for everyone as quickly as possible by drafting the Telecommunications Minimum Supply Ordinance.
Stuttgart, 29.04.2022 - At the first Baden-Württemberg fibre optic forum, Dr. Stephan Albers, Managing Director of the German Broadband Association (BREKO), proposed the development of a fibre optic pact for "the Länd". The idea was well received by those present. In addition, business, politics, administration and trade associations discussed how self-funded and subsidized expansion can be efficiently dovetailed, how approval procedures can become more digital and faster, what contribution modern installation methods can make to accelerating expansion and how network operators, municipalities and municipal utilities can best cooperate in order to jointly leverage synergies.
The German Broadband Association BREKO e.V. supports today's decision by the Federal Network Agency to set the fees for access to the local loop (local loop, "last mile") for the next 10 years. Previously, the approval periods were usually two to three years.

Berlin, March 23, 2022 Today, the Federal Network Agency presented the draft statutory order on the minimum requirements for the right to be provided with telecommunications services (RaVT). In addition to the previously announced parameters for the requirements for internet access services (download and upload bandwidth, latency), it contains an exception rule that allows the Federal Network Agency to set lower bandwidths and higher latencies in exceptional cases if this is justified in particular by the expected costs of expansion and geographical factors.
Berlin, March 17, 2022 "Regardless of whether the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport writes a year in the new gigabit strategy for the completion of the fiber optic expansion in Germany - it has the industry on its side for the fastest possible implementation. However, whether the target set will actually be achieved depends on the measures adopted to accelerate the expansion. Over the next few years, sufficient private sector funds will be available for the expansion of fiber optics to fully utilize the existing planning and construction capacities. That is why the gigabit strategy must first and foremost be an implementation strategy that initiates concrete steps to accelerate the expansion," says Norbert Westfal, President of the German Broadband Association (BREKO), with a view to the upcoming development of the key points of the gigabit strategy by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) under the leadership of Minister Volker Wissing.
Bonn, March 2, 2022 Against the backdrop of the increasingly escalating Ukraine crisis caused by the Russian war of aggression, the German Broadband Association (BREKO) is excluding its member company Wingas from the association with immediate effect.
